hey. i have a 99 626 lx and i was just wondering what people prefer, looks or performance? also, if you post looks or performance. list what looks/ performance you want to your car, and what kind of car you have.

i want performance first. i want to start out and get the fl ze engine for my car. i want to smoke people, that wouldnt except it. no one would ever expect a 626 to beat them, but i wanna do it. after im pretty **** fast, i want to go for looks like a body kit, the newer tail lights for the 626, rims, etc.

You're lucky you got a 626 then a Millenia like me 626GrL. Barely any stuff for Millenias. Only thing I got in the engine is a K&N filter, Accel wires, and the Tornado. A little quicker, but the little 2.5 V6 will never beat most sport sedans. So, I'll go with more looks. A cruizin' pimp mobile. I plan to get the bodykit from Sarona, a wing, tinted windows, rims, and of course a killa sound system. 1st thing I want is the Clarion HU with the flip up monitor and plays DVDs. That's pretty much all I can do.

there isnt much for my 626 either. but i think it takes time, and soon enough there will be more for my car, and more for your car too. i have a 4cyl 5 speed, it only has 125hp. im not fast, but you can make any car fast. you could make your millenia fast. that sounds cool what you want to do looks. i want to do looks eventually too. but im just gonna focus on speed, because im sick of the camaros and mustangs always getting victories, and everyone always talking about those cars and how they are so fast. i want to be able to beat those cars. my boyfriend has a 96 maxima and it is really fast. people are just so shocked when they see a car like that beat a camaro or a mustang. like my boyfriend says, its so much better to win when you are the underdog. thats just my insight, i think looks is cool too. eventually i will have both.

Thanks 626GrL. Maximas is a great platform in the mid-size class. Aftermarket galore for that car. I would've had a 99 Maxima GLE at my dealership, but it was sold before I had a chance to get there and that's how I ended up with my Millenia. I have no regrets getting the Millenia. I love my Millenia! It just feels right driving on the road where Millenia sightings are very rare and have a less likely chance of pulling next to a identical car. Good luck hooking up your car 626grl.

Were you aware that, perhaps subliminally, you have invoked a classic Mazda advertising slogan within your post?

Apparently, the mystique rubbed off on someone the right way...

Anyway, I generally am a big fan of "form following function" - that is, speed comes first and looks come later. Big rims (within reason) are about the only thing I don't have a problem with, since they generally add improvements to handling and roadholding.

My philosophy is that more money ought to be spent under the hood of the car than outside of it, but in some cases - like the Millenia, among others - that's simply not possible.

It also helps that Millenias look really, really good when fitted with big rims and a tasteful body kit...

I always say speed before looks... you always have to be able to back up what you have.

Mazda - it just feels right
I think they used that slogan in the USA from the early 1980s all the way up to the mid-1990s. It was even a jingle on television ads for a long time.

It appears that the "Zoom Zoom" campaign is working pretty well now, though.
