first off id just like to say sorry to the web master if this should be in test drives, but it has a story so, you can do whatever
alright, so im back and after only having my account to this forum and others stolen twice now, anyway, last friday I took my 00 millenia in for the 30k service +inspection and check a few things here and there, so while im there i noticed a white mazda 6 s on the lot, not wanting to be hassled by some salesguy i just look and wait for the service guy to finish checking the vin # etc, then he says ill have to leave the car there for 2 days since i was also getting the transmission flushed and fuel sending units checked, so i go to the glovebox and break out a coupon he gave me awhile ago for a free rental car, he says he'll see what they have and walks off- 10 mins later i decide to go sit in the 6, he then finds me in the car and asks if id like to take a test drive, i say id rather just take this as my rental car, he laughs and then stops, talks to the manger for awhile and comes back says since they have my car, i could take the 6 out for 2 days if i pay the rental car price i agree, get the keys and away i go(slowly of course) first off, the engine doesn't sound quite as good as the millenia s, but has a nice start up to it, and although i don't like white, i scored, fully loaded mazda 6 s STICK once im about a mile away i start to get going, first thing i start to test out is the transmission, it also brothered me to no end how the millenia was always auto, and how instead of adding in the option they stop production to make the 6, which i have nicknamed baby mil, anyway, 1st and 2nd gears i personally feel could have better ratios, but they get the car moving, and get it moving fast, at first the car seems more of a quick car and not really a muscle car,so i get to a light downshifting was a breeze, the clutch is just right, along with the car changing gears much faster then it felt like i was shifting, so im sitting there and start to look over the interior, the leather was pretty much the same you find on a millenia, except the 6's gray leather goes much better with the trim then the millenia's EVER did, i personally hate carbon fiber, and stainless steel, chrome whatever dashes, there just annoying to me, however i must say, everything is well placed, everything the driver would ever need is within a very comfortable reach, the light is about to turn red and so i figure, **** why not, so i lean back, get ready and launch the car full throttle, steering felt alittle weak around 4000rpms but maintained itself, appoaching traffic i brake and bring it back down 2 about 45 from 70ish, braking on the car is very good and gives you the feeling of total control, from here i decide im already late for work so i get on highway, on the on ramp it curves then staightens for about 1000 feet to merge, so being in 5th i downshift to 3rd and punch it, man this car leaped forward and i hit 100 very fast, not as fast as my millenia, but it felt like it did, around 110 i slow down to a claim metro area cruise of 90, at high speeds the cars interior is fairly quiet, very quiet for a mid sized non luxuxy seden, so i get off on my exit, procede to work, and get to another light, downshift gear by gear, getting into 1st wasn't much fun though, i downshifted to first around 12mph and it still jerked the car and slowed it, but only for a sec, so im sitting there and of course some ricer civic pulls up, looks and starts revving, actting like i don't care i wait for the light to go, gun it, but i wondered, why do i not hear a lawnmower bumble bee trying to catch up, i looked back and it appeared as the guy had stalled out, hahahaha ricers, can't even drive there cr*p, so i park etc, work grr, works over, yah, and i start my drive home, i decide to just drive and not really get into anything, so im driving along, and decide to check out the stereo, im a car audio nut, my millenia is DECKED out, i turn it on, and its the bose, pop in a cd and listen to a mix, natural as with the millenia the stock bass simply does ot exist at all, but none the less has a very clear bose like sound to it. later on i get to my gf's house, pick her up, and hte first thing she asks me *what happened, did your car get stuck in a trash compactor* explaining that this was mazda's way of saying goodbye to the millenia and replacing there 626 family car with a sporty thing, we drive off, get back to my house, have dinner with the parents, help each other with some homework, stay up late and go to bed, next morning we decide to go down to the occuquan for some erging, hehehe, i can go the back way and take twisty roads. pile everything in the trunk which is well sized, not really big, but not small and cramped, so were going, i make up some excuse about traffic and say im taking the back way, hehe 13 miles of fun that unless you live there (or get lost there grr) don't know exist, and of course im going anywhere from 35-90 taking the turns sharply and staight aways like there's no tommorrow, and even though i find all other things pretty bland, the car does handle very very well, a few sqweaks could be heard now and then but in general a great ride, the steering felt firm, braking controlled everything, and the car itself seemed to own the road. after getting there, getting slapped and working out, we go home, change i drop her back off, and come on home to start the reading i should have done 4 days ago, but instead, here i'am telling all my fellow mazda'ers (if thats a word) about my weekend, the sad part is, tommorrow morning it goes back, and i gotto shell out 650 dollars, the moral of the story- don't put miles on cars, and always put ricers in there place
