You only need a second Battery if you are drawing megga power from your electrical system. A cap is the first step I would take. The Optima is a very good battery designed for the high loar application, if however you are running a big system w/big drain on your cars electrical system, then a second battery is necessary.
Check w/local car audio shop & ask them, then get a second opinion, maybe even a 3rd of 4th, just to make sure they aren't just trying to sell you something you don't need. It is done w/an isolation circuit & generally requires a different alternator or at least getting your factory beefed up. In other word it will not be something you want to attempt on your own, nor will it be inexpensive. Buy a cap, for $100.00 or so it is an excellent starting point. |

if your drawing mega power then your lights will dim and your basically trying to get your electrical systemto commit suicide. ene at low levels your still draining your battery, and wearing your alt.but the bass beats sounds to come a fraction of a sec slower(if you have good ears) basically the amp has to suck in power and charge each beat, with a cap you don't have to. right now I have a 1.0 farat cap from lighting audio with a digital readout. I get all my stuff from www.carstereomall.com you can get a lighting audio(top brand name) cap for like 100. more then worth a 600 dollar alt
