What up people. I think I've decided to go with one 10" JL W7. One question though, will this hit harder than any two 10" box? (depending on the setup? Or what about 2 10" JL W3's? LE me know before I buy. Good looking out guys. Thanks.

What up fellas. Since I already asked about which type box is better, I'm gonna ask another question. Like I mentioned, I've decided to go with a W7, (supposedly the best, right?) with two Rockford Fosgate Punch Amps. But what my question is this. I don't want to get a box, . . . . I want to set it up like this one guy has on his Acura, that I've seen on Cardomain, but he only describes his setup as a "walled-up" trunk. It's def custom, but what I want to know is if I get the W7, will this be a good setup, or should I get it in a box for better sound and performance? I want a nice setup, but I don't want to sacrifice the sound quality, you know? Let me know guys. Thanks.

I'm running two 12" Kicker Solobarics in a sealed box a bit smaller than 2 cubic feet. A small Alpine mono amp powers them and it sounds incredible. Very smooth and natural, yet kickes when you wnat it to....I know JL is great stuff, but these kickers are also fabulous...(get the older round style...they sound much better than the new square type)
The box is made to fit up fairly snug against the back of the back seat in the trunk, and the top is agled downward a bit so you can see the subs, all just a inch or so below the bottom of the rear deck speaker magnets. I carpeted in matching trunk carpet and it looks great...simple yet effective and still losts of trunk...

Well I don't know if I'm too late but I think you should know that the W7 was designed first and foremost as an SQ sub (although all JL's have good SQ mind you.) From what I have read and the little I have heard these are not really worth the steep price tag unless you are a SERIOUS audio nut who can notice subtle differences in low frequencies (which is hard to do unless you have an ear for it.) Just because they are absolutely massive and expensive does not mean that they are going to get louder than anything. Granted, JL's are GREAT subs and this sub will sound kick-ass; but if you are wanting some serious volume you should go with (2) of either a higher end Audiobahn sub or something like the Orion HCCA 12 (freakishly loud.) There are a lot of other good subs out there that you can't get at Circuit City, Good Guys, etc. and I know of some other good brands if you are really interested.

JL's are alittle overpriced agreed. but its kindi like clothes and cars. with JL's you pay for the name as well. I notice a diffrence in all systems and would be considered the audio "nut" as you put it. but you have to look at what your doing 2. I listen to alot of trance and alt rock now, where the bass really isn't up much higher then a loud stock system. it adds depth and feeling. where as sometimes I listen to rap, and if the windows are down ill have the bass up high and be an earthquake plowing down the road. JL's give you a wide range of options.Id start with a single 12 w3 or w6 and build from there
