What up people. Question, . . . what type of sub box is better? The enclosed type with the subs to an angle, covered with the plastic glass, or the open kind with the subs facing out? I've heard a mix of opinions from the installations places, but then again, they're just trying to sell you their **** and install nomatter what. I'm asking cuz I've seen some of you have both styles. Let me know which type is better (sounds better). Thanks.

I'd go with a sealed box. It'll give you the 'pop' that sounds the best. If you have a ported box(speakers and port), its more bassy, and even moreso with a bandpass box(just ports...no speakers outside). If you want tight bass, go for the sealed. If you want it more bass, go with the port/bandpass. I had 2 8's in a bandpass that I custom built in high school, it sounded great.....even with 8's. Keep in mind you'll need a better amp with the sealed as well. If I were to ever design another box, I'd probably design it with a 1 sealed 10 or 12" and a ported 8.

Don't overdo it though... get two ten inchers for a mid-size car, and get clean ones.. Infinity's Perfect series are nice

Moving this to the right forum...

sealed box much the bass much tighter and more natural(just alot louder) bandpass boxes (the plastic in front) and ported boxes make the bass seem to be extended, if that makes since, like the actually bass beats will be drawn out over more of the music- it kindi depends on what you want, i have a 2000 millenia and in the trunk im running a dual sealed 3/4 mdf enclosure with 2 jl audio 12-w3-d2's powered by an Alpine mrd-m500 amp and a lighting audio 1F digital cap- NO SUBS ARE BETTER THEN JL AUDIO- ASK ANYONE if your interested i have 10 subs im trying to sell, ranging from 12's to 10's and 1000watts each to 200watts each, 1 500 watt amp, 1 dual enclosure, 1 single enclosure and 2 slealth enclosure for kenwood 10's, very very cheap- id let the 2 1000 watt subs go for 90 for the pair- e-mail me (enigma02g@aol.com)

What up fellas. Thanks for the info. So what you're saying is that the one with the best sound is the sealed box. I do want bass, (love that ****) BUT, I don't want to be listening to my music, and all I'm gonna hear is rumble. I DO want to listen to the music. I went to two places, and one is offering me 2 12" Rockford Fosgate subs in a box, and the other is 2 10" Audiobahn Subs in an enclosed bandpass, Audiobahn I have a 96' Mil, so I was thinking of going with 2 10" Subs in a box, but I'm still debating if I'm going to customize the trunk and have them stand out with the amps like this one dude I seen on Cardomain. That **** looks hot. Anyway, let me know what you guys think. Thanks

go JL-AUDIO they make the best hands down- if you don't care about price go with a 10-w7, if you do- a single jl 1w3 will hit harder then any 2 10's put together- plus its much tighter, and with a w7 you can run 500-1200watts rms and save room

Get them off eBay, you'll find them cheaper.

ebay is the only place you won't get totally ripped off, just make sure there like new or in box, no mater what anyone says, all jl audo subs come with a 2 year warrenty, so try to use that to find out how new they are, but if you just want something, and wanna go low budget i currently i''m trying to sell these-

2 1000w pyramid 12's -95 for both
2 legacy 500w 12's- 60 for both
3 reactor 250w 12's- 30 each
2 re-built kenwood 200w 10's in slealth boxes- 50 each
1 dual sealed 3/4 mdf enclosure 12"
1 single sealed 3/4 mdf enclosure 12"
1 500w boss 2 channel amp- 75

nothing compares to JL, but if your on a budget i need to get rid of this stuff, except for the kewoods everything has only been tested but never used, excep the amp wa used for like 5-6weeks
