Can someone plezz help me, I just got my car from the audio store the instalation is good I used 4 g wires sealed box but for some reason is dosent hit that hard u can hardly feel it standing next to the car.
Im using 2 12 inch infinity subs 1200 watts each with 300 rms totaling 2400watts and 600 rms. Now my amp is a 2 channel 1000 watt 315 rms sony amp. Do you guys think the problem is my amp its to weak to push my subs, If thats the case then Im thinking of getting one more of the same amp and running one amp to one sub |

What model subs are these, sounds like Perfects but could be Kappa's I dunno... could be several factors as to why they don't get loud:
1. Infinity's usually do not get that loud... they are a musical sub (Perfects can get loud though.) 2. That Sony amp kind of sucks nuts, no offense. ES models are better but Sony overrates their amps a bit if I'm not mistaken. 3. It might work to get 2 of the Sony's... but you are better off just getting one big ass powerful monoblock amp. 4. If you want earth moving bass... you need to look into a different sub setup (Orion, Audiomobile, Audiobahn, etc.) 5. Stop buying just the stuff the car audio shop sells... you are getting ripped off. This is being moved to audio section, more help there.

I agree with extermin8r and just like to ad that if the sony amp does 315rms (doubtful because sony over rates) the subs are only getting about 155rms each. Thats not going to give you ground shaking bass. Also the max wattage rating on amps is pretty much useless. Always use rms as your guide.
Heres a couple of sites that have a ton of info on car audio and different setups. www.termpro.com and www.sounddomain.com look in the forum sections and do a couple of searches, very useful stuff.

Pearl you stated what people always think is the right thing... you said you can't hear it OUTSIDE of the car. As cool as it can be for people to hear you coming down the street, the point is for the bass to sound great INSIDE the car. I'm have a dual 10" Audiobahn bandpass box powered by a 600 watt Memphis amp in my trunk. When I have the bass volume turned up the box pounds, much louder than the factory Bose system, but when you're outside the car you're not gonna hear me down the street. If I have it up loud you'll definitely hear it outside the car but again that's not the point. If you still have the factory system you don't want the subs to be too loud because then you won't hear any music, just bass. If you're really into letting people hear you wait for the summer, you're set up will sound much louder outside of the car with the windows down.

Also if you end up adding an amp or upgrading to a more powerful one you mayb want to invest in a capacitor, they run around $100. This will keep constant power to the amps when the bass hits and will keep your lights from dimming when the volume's up.

thanks guys it was all helpfull,
ok check is out last night i got pissed about my audio and wanted to see what the **** they did to my system. this is what the problem was they did not set the balence of the speakers so it was in the the middel and was not hitting the way it should I took the balence more to the rear and turned the bass all the way up. lolololl **** it started hitting very hard so hard that from about 5-6 cars you could still feel it in your body. Now I got one more ? The only way it hits hard is when i take the power to the rear speakers that makes the front ones useless what can i do. and will the capacitor make it hit a bit better |

I don't know if you are taking about the balance controls within your deck but I will assume that. In my setup, I lose bass only if I have the speakers faded all the way to the front. If I leave it even (neutral) I get just as much bass as fading it all the way to the back speakers. Try that.

I managed 6x9's in the front of my car. Do that, and you wont lose any bass.

sony makes some of the worst car audio products ever. then they try to pass it off as good stuff, there the civics of the underworld. it could be something really simple like, you need to tune your amp to what you want, your level of high pass could be off, crank up the bass boost if you want. I find that in a millenia however bass just into the cabin strong but not really outside the car. atleast with jl audio subs.
