Anyone know of any power inverters that are decent? I need decent, reliable power, 300W max draw but i'd like a 400W just in case. Are generic 12V to 120V converters fine?

Typical use would probably be less than 125W, and shouldn't exceed 200W at most situations.

Any companies I need to avoid?

I'm sure it's been covered, but what options do i have for an AUX input on a factory bose? If i have to, I'll just keep using a tape hookup, but if you know of an aux input for a 2002 Millenia Bose system, i'd like to hear it.

02 Bose stock stereo
Single CD
Tape deck

I don't really wanna redo all the speakers or replace the head unit...right now this will work with the tape adaptor until i decide to redo the stereo.

oh, and about the power inverters...I can hook one up the same way I can with an amp right? do they have a remote turn on that's powered by the ignition?

What guage wire should I use if i wanna power say a 400W invertor and eventually a 500-600W amp, without rewiring it all again later? (maybe a distributor later, but that's easy once the wire is run)

got my LCD yesterday - freaking sweet little thing...

i've had it as high as 1280x1024, although i prefer to run it at 1024x768 in terms of usefulness. touchscreen is pretty **** sweet i must say...

I oreder all the parts i'll need for getting this thing working. It will have wirless networking, ability to use a cell to get online if need be, 10/100, gps navigation, CD-RW/DVD, card reader, word processing, games, tv tuner, etc.

Powered by a Celeron 2.4GHz, 512MB RAM, i865 motherboard, (currently) 80GB hard drive, windows XP home

it should work perfectly in the spot that i plan to put it in, plus it will be able to be turned upside down so that if a passenger is with me i can let them use it.

yeah it is....

although I lied...this thing is rapidly getting more expensive by the day ( to my money )

Anyone know of good deals on capacitors? I can get a Rockford Fosgate .5 Farad cap for $100, or a lightning audio 1 farad for $110

Anyone know of a better price? I don't need much, so either one would be fine...

can't wait for more things I discover i need to buy

So you don't need a keyboard since it's touchscreen?

I will be having a keyboard and mouse in the car, plus a remote, plus the touchscreen :P

right now it looks like i will be tapping into a switched ON power source for power management, using a cap to keep my power inverter powered during heavy power drain times (car startup for example), the power inverter itself, and the PC.

With the above setup, i can hopefully do exactly what I want.

this setup will be keeping the stock stereo and will look bone stock until I use the display. I'm also using a full-size ATX motherboard for this project, wit ha custom case which will be in the trunk. I may eventually redo the case to be mounted in the cabin, but i'm not sure about that just yet. I am going to need to run wires just like I would for an amp, so I gotta find my old power cables for my old amp and figure out how i'll be hooking them up.

What is a good switched wire to hook into? does the bose radio have a switched wire running to it, or does the bose amp have a remote wire i can tap into?

j-allan: Don, how can you sleep at night knowing your car is available to drive 24/7? Very, very tasteful mods, IMO, from the signal mirrors to the hids and engine compartment, well done!
Kat_Daddy: btw, i think plat still holds the milly crown here. Don is moving into the #1 contender spot though...
Roof: Don has the makings of a good padawan.
we will have to see where this goes before i take him under my wing
