I just recently purchased an ipod integration kit from Mazda and I had Best Buy install it. The sound is good and you do have some control from the steering wheel, but I have one major problem: connecting the ipod to the car resets the ipod back to the song that was playing the last time the ipod was connected to the car.
Before I purchased the kit I knew that once the ipod was connected you couldn't control it using its own controls, but I assumed that if you chose a song on the ipod using its own interface and then plugged it in to the car you could hear the song you just chose.
This seems to me a major flaw in this product as I have hundreds of albums on my ipod and I don't want to blindly scroll through them alphabetically to find the album I want to listen to.
Looking back I should have just installed some kind of AUX input, so I could control the ipod using its own controls.
Does anyone know a workaround for this issue? Alternatively, does anyone know if the Mazda factory ipod integration kit has another input on it so I could just plug a 1/8" cable in and connect my ipod that way? Or is there a better alternative to plugging in an ipod that allows you to use the ipod's own controls? I don't really need to use the steering wheel controls.
thanks in advance!
