i got a laptop from a friend of mine and the thing is all locked up he got from some one else like this and i tried every to hack it its a ibm lenovo z61t

Are you trying to salvage data on the hard drive? I'd just stick a Windows boot CD in it and reformat it.

i was trying to gain data from it but now i just want it to work so now im going to go out and look for a windows disk for cheap

If you mean windows has a password to get into it then that is easy to hack. Let me know if your still having this problem and Ill walk you through it.
