Mazda 3 stock radio problem

I have a Mazda 3, 2004, which runs great, but I'm having some trouble with the radio. It started out just shutting off and then powering back on. It would do it a few times then stay on. Then a few weeks would go by, do it again, but this time stay off. I recently got laid off and haven't been using the car much, but the radio is my lifeline. I love music and now I can't get the thing to turn on at all. I don't know where to begin troubleshooting this, or if its been something others have experienced before. Any wisdom would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like an intermittent loose connection which has now become permanent. Maybe at the fuse or where the cabling connects to the radio.
