Default My Mazda is running lean

My check engine light came on a few days ago saying that my car is running lean on startup. I am trying to pinpoint where I should start looking. So heres whats going on:

1.) Check engine light comes on and off saying im running lean.
2.) When my tank gets down to a 1/4 tank it starts to buck like its low on gas.
3.) It sometimes doesn't shift into gear. (automatic, mainly 4th gear). ie; when it trys to shift into 4th, it just wont, the car acts as if its in neutral, sometimes itll pop into gear, other times ill put it into manual and shift to 5th.

#2 started a couple months ago. #3 started a couple weeks ago. #1 just happened about a week ago. I am no mechanic, but I was thinking all this was related, think that it could be the fuel pump. I am planning to have a pressure test done this weekend, but would like to get any feedback, or other things it could be... any info would be helpful.

Oh. I am hoping #3 is related, it doesnt sound like it would be but this is a 2008 that hasnt been driven hard so I hope its not the transmission. So i dont know...

I had the same prob. Upon exam of engine I noticed a large tear in the air intake hose. This created a lean mixture cause extra air was being drawn into the intake. A trip to the auto wreckers solve my problem.
