work at a mazda dealership, seeing several flooded RX8's coming in. any tips on the best way to get the darn things fired up? we don't have a mazda tech employed here at this time. (low paying shop.) the suits are trying to get me to commit to be the mazda tech. very leary of the mazda ways! had 3 other techs try to suceed. they failed. i think i'll just stick with lincoln mercury for now.[/b]

Last reply was good. You can alson try pulling out the fuel pump fuse and then doing the same procedure. Works but it may take quite a few attempts. Just keep trying and it will fire. Always get the engine up to operating temp before you shut down!

Sorry for revival, but I felt this thread should be completed.

The absolute best way to deflood a rotary is to remove either EGI fuse and/or fuel fuse.
Remove spark plugs. Crank car for 5 seconds at a time for 3 times with WOT.
Clean your plugs with wire brush, if fouled, replace.
Squirt a little bit of oil in the leading plug hole in each rotor (this builds tons of compression that was lost from the flooding).
Reinstall spark plugs and fuses and proceed to start. It works for every single flooding.
