2002 Transmission..Is There Hope?

A couple of weeks ago while I was getting on the freeway the car slipped and the RPM's went really high and it didn't go into drive so I slowed down and after that it went into drive just fine I figured that it was that I punched it and I shouldn't have punched it... I didn't really punch it but I told myself that was what had happened. Fast forward to last Friday and just leaving my house driving up the street first gear find 2nd gear fine drive gear gone I'm so I am wondering what might be the matter with it any informed input would be greatly appreciated.
For now I have to keep the hold button on to drive around in 1st and 2nd gear. I haven't driven anywhere but around the block a few times today i have to drive to dentist. Fluid is full checked with car running but is nothing like red. Thank You😊🙏😐

I shouldn't have used voice to text
I've never used the hold feature to operate the transmission
Reverse 1st and 2nd gear are fine
If i drive without hold the car goes thru 1st and second , then the rpms shoot up and nothing catches, that is, drive is not there
If I drive with hold on and keep it under 3000rpms it does that
I am concerned that using hold for slow driving may not be good for the car
What is most likely wrong with it and will having the fluid and filter changed be the first step?
Thank You
