yes, if they are imported, the biggest things are it must have the same safety devices such as atleast a drivers side airbag, front and rear bumper, and must pass us emissions.

since the xedos9 and 800 are pretty much the exact same it should be a shoe in, emissions would be my only concern but a 200 dollar US cat would fix that.

I was so close to importing an 800sp, but the shipping and paperwork nightmare was simply overwhelming

It's allowed with RHD here as well, but most common on british classic cars, such as Jags and MGBs. Hardly recommended on a everyday drive. The old english cars are so narrow most of them anyway so it doesen't matter that much.

I don't think theres anything recommended, I know to be sold here is has to be LHD, but when importing you do not have to convert. I can't wait until 01/01/20 when I get can "classic" license plates for the millenia

it means if you import a car as long as it conforms to U.S safty and emissions for its production year your good, regardless of other stuff.

In the U.S 20 years is considered a "classic" car or vintage car. but it goes by model year, not purchase date, so on 01/01/2020 my millenia will be 20 years old and I can get vintage plates, the benefits being you do not have to pay personal prop taxes, do not have to go through safty or emissions inspections (regardless if they were required before) and most of all, you cannot be given a ticket for items that may now be illegal, like tint, or exhausts 2 loud or something or stuff like that....

You can bring any car into the US so long as you modify it to meet US specs and prove on paper that it meets the specs. I've heard the costs are astronomical for a car model that's never been through the rigors of USDM certification, but once someone has done it, it's cheaper for others to import the same model since someone else has done the research and absorbed the overhead costs of getting a particular model certified.

Is this thread still active?

I was wondering if a JDM Xedos9 or Eunos8 has 2 or 4 O2 sensors. And if they have the KLK1 ECU. I would greatly appreciate any info. Thanks!
